St Petersburg University launches newly updated Chinese language courses
St Petersburg University has updated its online Chinese language course. The authors of the course supplemented it with teaching materials and tests and also changed the lesson structure.
"Chinese in 5 Steps" online course is available on the OpenEdu National Platform. It is an expanded version of the well-known and popular course ‘Chinese for Beginners’ authored by St Petersburg University. Over the five years since the course was first launched, the total enrolment has exceeded over 100,000 people.
St Petersburg University offers an extensive programme of online courses. There are opportunities for learning not only Chinese, but also other oriental languages. To make your choice, you can take a short test. On the OpenEdu website, you can find study programmes for learning: Japanese; Korean; Arabic; Turkish; and Persian.
Lessons have been divided into sections and the learning tasks have been updated to make the course more relevant and comprehensible. The realigned course syllabus includes an introduction to Chinese pronunciation and five learning steps. During the course, the students will learn the basic Chinese vocabulary (approximately 600 characters) and grammar for A2 level (CEFR).
Also, the students will learn to improve their writing and speaking skills independently and will develop translation skills. The acquired vocabulary will help them in communication with native speakers.
