St Petersburg University lecturer included in the list of top 100 best managers in St Petersburg
Iuliia Rakovskaia, Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics at St Petersburg University, Head of the Sber Research and Development Centre, has been included in the "TOP 100 Best Managers" ranking according to the Delovoy Peterburg newspaper. The expert received the award "for successful collaboration with universities and the implementation of the academic agenda in the IT sphere in the Northwestern Federal District."
"Leadership in the ranking is a result of research, trial and error, as well as adherence to the principles that have been established in our team. First of all, we are talking about having clear goals and striving to achieve them: always doing more than is possible, expanding boundaries and areas of research, and creating new ideas together," Iuliia Rakovskaia, Assistant Professor at St Petersburg University, shared.
One of the significant results of the work of students and lecturers was the chatbot project "AI Assistant for Universities".
Iuliia Rakovskaia also spoke about the joint work of the leading universities of St Petersburg with the largest companies involved in the development of curricula for training highly qualified employees in the field of artificial intelligence and data science. Thus, the joint academic programme "Artificial Intelligence and Data Science" is being successfully implemented at St Petersburg University. It includes not only the development of theoretical knowledge but also practical mentoring by experts from Sber. In addition to research practice, students receive a unique opportunity to complete an internship at the company and work with real business tasks.
Iuliia Rakovskaia has been in charge of the Sber Research and Development Centre since its foundation on 1 February 2018. Under her leadership, the staff of the Centre is actively engaged in research activities and participates in prestigious scientific awards and conferences, including AI Journey.
Sber is an industrial partner of St Petersburg University and actively participates in the creation of the University’s curricula. Sber also participates in defining topics for students’ internships and graduation projects, and conducting internships with access to real projects and ongoing research. Additionally, the company’s employees were among the coauthors of the first Russian textbook on artificial intelligence for schoolchildren, edited by Elena Kazakova, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy at St Petersburg University.
