St Petersburg University once again listed in the Times Higher Education ranking of universities
On 26 September the Times Higher Education published its World University Rankings 2019. St Petersburg University was included in the world 500+ group.
In the previous version of the ranking St Petersburg University was in the 401–500 group. Almost every Russian university has suffered a slight drop in the Times Higher Education ranking due to the more substantial progress demonstrated by the universities of Southeast Asia, China, Turkey and some other countries. This has led to much stronger competition for each place; and now the difference is often determined by tenths of a point.
At the same time, it should be understood that the efforts of Russian universities to progress in the ratings have produced certain positive results. In particular, St Petersburg University has improved the points gained in two out of the five groups of indicators: «Education» — 48.3 points against 47.3 last year; and «Internationalisation» — 38 points against 37.4 last year. The values for 7 out of the 11 rating indicators have also increased.
