St Petersburg University Professor Connie Bakrie receives the Golden Lion Award
A solemn ceremony awarding the laureates of the Golden Lion Award of the Committee for External Relations of St Petersburg in the field of international and interregional cooperation was held at the K2 State Residence. Rahakundini Laspetrini, also known as Connie Rahakundini Bakrie, Professor at St Petersburg University was awarded in the nomination "For the effective contribution to the development of St Petersburg external relations with foreign and regional partners."
Connie Bakrie is a recognised international expert in the field of national security and defence policy and regularly speaks at leading specialised international venues. She is a frequent participant and co-organiser of historical and economic events, including conferences, forums, and round tables organised by St Petersburg University and the Committee for External Relations of St Petersburg. In September of this year, she assisted with the visit to St Petersburg of Megawati Sukarnoputri, the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Professor Connie Bakrie actively participates in discussions on international politics and security, emphasising the importance of involving scholars and businesspeople in diplomatic processes. In her opinion, modern diplomacy requires the involvement of specialists capable of understanding complex international processes. Professor Bakrie also holds the view that alliances such as BRICS and ASEAN are becoming leading forces in shaping new world politics and contemporary international relations, especially in the context of geopolitical confrontation.
