St Petersburg University professor recognised as one of the top women in science

The 2nd Eurasian Women’s Forum has come to a close in St Petersburg. It brought together about 2,000 politicians, entrepreneurs, scholars and public figures from 110 countries. The Forum featured the Public Recognition 2018 Award ceremony, with Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, awarding prizes in nine different nominations to female leaders from Russia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan, Germany, Japan, Korea, and Ireland. This award is a symbol of recognition of the merits of women who make a substantial contribution to solving current problems in various domains of public life.

Tatyana Chernigovskaya is a Doctor of Science in Biology and at St Petersburg University she is the Head of the Laboratory of Cognitive Studies and Professor at the Department of General Linguistics. She is one of the leading experts in cognitive sciences — psycholinguistics, neuropsychology and neurophysiology — in both Russia and worldwide.

The Eurasian Women’s Forum is the largest international discussion venue for establishing and developing cooperation of female leaders in strengthening peace and security, and solving socio-economic and humanitarian problems. The first Forum, with over 1,000 participants from 80 countries, was held in St Petersburg in 2015. They supported the idea of ​​holding such an event on a regular basis, once every three years. The Forum’s organisers are the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States under the auspices of a number of ministries and departments. This year, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session «Women for Global Security and Sustainable Development».
