The first Forum, with over 1,000 participants from 80 countries, was held in St Petersburg in 2015. They supported the idea of holding such an event on a regular basis, once every three years. The Forum’s organisers are the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States under the auspices of a number of ministries and departments. This year, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session «Women for Global Security and Sustainable Development».
