Tatiana Chernigovskaya wins the Lev Vygotsky award
Professor Tatiana Chernigovskaya is Director of the Institute for Cognitive Studies at St Petersburg University, Corresponding Member and member of the Department of Psychology and Developmental Physiology of the Russian Academy of Education. She has been granted the Lev Vygotsky Award for significant contribution to scientific and educational activities.
The award document was signed by Academician Olga Vasilieva, President of the Russian Academy of Education, and Viktor Basiuk, Acting Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Education.

Tatiana Chernigovskaya, Doctor of Biology, is one of the leading specialists in Russia and abroad in the field of cognitive sciences. The scientist is the author of over 300 scientific works in leading Russian and foreign journals. She is a member of the Scientific Council on the Methodology of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Research under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. She also holds the honorary title of Honoured Worker of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It was on her initiative that the first Russian Master's programmes in psycholinguistics and cognitive studies were opened at St Petersburg University.
The Award of Lev Vygotsky is one of the brightest scientists in the field of psychology of the 20th century. It is granted to educational workers and figures in the field of psychological sciences who carry out scientific or educational activities and have made a significant contribution to the development of the cultural-historical approach in psychology, or to the improvement of methods of psychological and pedagogical support of citizens, or in scientific and methodological support for psychological assistance. The recipients of the high award can be educators and psychologists who have at least 20 years of experience in the field of psychological sciences.
