The University concludes an agreement with the Arm Wrestling Federation of St Petersburg
St Petersburg University has signed a cooperation agreement on popularising student arm wrestling. The agreement was signed by Aleksandr Babich, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Admissions at St Petersburg State University, and Andrei Politov, President of the regional branch of the All-Russian public organisation ‘The Russian Arm Wrestling Federation’.
The agreement provides joint work to involve student athletes in regular arm wrestling training and stimulate young people’s interest in physical and social activities. The main areas of interaction will be: the development and implementation of programmes aimed at promoting the ideas of a healthy lifestyle and achieving the best results; as well as organising joint events and campaigns.
According to the agreement, the St Petersburg Arm Wrestling Federation will: assist St Petersburg University in encouraging student teams to participate in regional, All-Russian and international student competitions; include arm wrestling competitions, in which University students participate, in its sporting calendar; and propose that these competitions should be included in the unified sporting calendar of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation.
