Vladimir Zagorov, senior lecturer at SPbU, is the winner of the special prize of the Sergey Kuryokhin Award
The New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the Sergei Kuryokhin Award. The jury awarded a special prize to the work "Journey Along the Coast" by Vladimir Zagorov, senior lecturer at SPbU (Department of Design).
Vladimir Zagorov became the first St Petersburg artist to have a solo exhibition in South Africa
"Journey Along the Coast" is a kind of abstract travel diary. This art series was a continuation of the series «Travels» and "Fragments" that Zagorov began in the 1990s. The cycle has been exhibited in various museums in St Petersburg and Moscow, and in exhibition spaces and galleries in Copenhagen and Paris.
The Sergey Kuryokhin Award is an international award in the field of contemporary art. It has been awarded annually since 2009. The award traditionally recognises the achievements of artists who develop the principles of "Pop Mechanics", formulated by avant-garde composer, screenwriter and actor Sergey Kuryokhin in the 1990s — the search for new forms of interaction between different art forms.
The jury for the thirteenth season of the awards selected the winners from 74 entries in eight categories. Two special prizes were also awarded, one of which went to Vladimir Zagorov.
