The Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Career Development has announced the results of the international and professional-social accreditation of the main educational programmes in International Relations at SPbU. According to the results of the accreditation by an independent commission, fourteen master programmes and one bachelor programme are accredited for five years.

The accreditation has several stages. The first one is a self-study of the programmes and preparing a report on the results of the internal audit. Then, the results are given to the working groups that comprise the experts in education and representatives of the professional communities. The third stage is a visit of the expert group of the Central Agency for Accreditation and Education Quality Assessment to SPbU to get insight into the infrastructure and meet the staff, students, and alumni.

As an agency on the market of accreditation of the educational programmes, Zeva has been highly esteemed since 1995 and regarded as a leading agency in education quality assurance in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Transparency, responsibility, professional support and competence in education quality assessment are the core values of the Agency.

According to the results of the analytical work, the Agency prepared expert evaluation reports, while the University prepared the feedback. The information is assessed by the independent accreditation commission that is responsible for a final decision on accreditation.

The experts outlined that the programmes were unique and educated and prepared highly competitive students according to high standards. They made some improvements on a number of methodological points, administration, quality assessment tools and feedback between management, staff, and students. They also made some recommendations as to how incorporate rare foreign languages into circulars and open the Career Centre for students in International Relations. Moreover, the experts said that the SPbU’s Smolny Campus has perfect earning ambiance and location.

The strong points of the University are the circulars of the graduate programmes that educate and prepares specialists in specific subject fields and strong ties with the employers, said the representative of the expert commission and a lecturer at MGIMO Vladimir Nelidov.

The international exchange programmes make the University at the forefront of global education.

April 5, there was a ceremony to award the certificates that prove the quality of education at the University. The event was visited by SPbU’s Vice-Rector for Methodological Support Marina Lavrikova, Director General of AKKORK Erika Soboleva, and directors of the educational programmes.

The last year has seen a thorough and elaborate preparation for the accreditation, said Marina Lavrikova. “We have gained experience in collaborating with the international experts and got recommendations for further guidance”, — said the Vice-Rector.

We will do our best to excel.

SPbU’s Associate Professor Dmitrii Baryshnikov

The right decision was to present all the educational programmes to be accredited, said Erika Soboleva: “Such approach can draw a whole picture of how the University is doing and what its strategy is. What we have to understand is the principles of how you work, rather than where the graduates work”. The experts were greatly impressed by how the University interacted with the employers and how many employers visited the event: “it is a good sign that proves the excellence of the programmes and competitiveness of the graduates in International Relation on the labour market, said Erika Soboleva.

In the end, on behalf of the director of the accredited programmes, SPbU’s Associate Professor Dmitrii Baryshnikova thanked everyone for collaboration.
