The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation: Russia and Bolivia sign an intergovernmental agreement on mutual recognition of education, qualifications and academic degrees

St Petersburg University has hosted the signing ceremony of the Russian-Bolivian intergovernmental agreement on mutual recognition of education, qualifications and academic degrees. The ceremony was attended by President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Luis Arce.
On the Russian side, the document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Mogilevsky. On the Bolivian side, the document was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa Lunda.
As the President of Bolivia noted, the document will significantly simplify the recognition procedure. The previous agreement, signed in 1971, was not effective enough. The new document will create a legal framework for favourable conditions for the education and careers of citizens of our countries.
According to Konstantin Mogilevsky, more than 240 Bolivian citizens are currently studying at Russian universities. However, Russia is ready to accept more students. The agreement will provide additional support for Bolivian applicants enrolling in Russian universities.
During the meeting, the President was also awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of St Petersburg University for his achievements in economics and for his contribution to the development of international cooperation between Russia and Bolivia. The President delivered a presentation on the Bolivian economic model and answered the students’ questions. He also discussed the prospects of Bolivia joining the BRICS, the strengthening of bilateral relations between our countries in the fields of trade, energy, science and education, and the formation of a multipolar world order.
On 7 June, the President was the guest of honour at the events of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
