• SPbU is one of the few universities to offer unique professional training for teachers of foreign languages in higher education
• The programme is aimed at the professional training of highly qualified university teachers and, by focusing on the main educational objective, it ensures high quality training of specialists for higher education institutions

As part of their studies, students undertake pedagogical practice in the teaching of a specialised foreign language. It can also take the form of developing a course or programme of study in a vocational foreign language, developing language tests and testing instruments, and developing teaching and methodological products of a practical nature. 

Graduates work in the field of higher education, intercultural communication, applied linguistics, in the field of higher, special, professional and extracurricular education in the field of foreign language teaching, as well as in organisational and educational activities in the field of foreign languages: 

• Foreign language teachers in non-language universities at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level 
• Foreign language teachers in language centres offering corporate training 
• Foreign language teachers at corporate universities 
• Developer of educational and methodological products in foreign languages for distance and online learning, as well as language computer programmes 
• Developer of language courses and programmes for specialised, professional and academic purposes
