The master’s programme "Foreign Languages in International Relations" is focused on training specialists and translators/interpreters in the field of international relations and diplomacy. They will develop professional competencies in linguistics of discourse, language analysis and translation/interpreting, and speak two foreign languages. In the field of international relations, they will speak English at proficiency level; and in the socio-cultural sphere, they will speak Chinese at basic level. The programme is unique in that it combines disciplines in different areas (philology, linguistics, and international relations) and languages of different language groups (English, Russian, and Chinese).

- The programme is aimed at training highly qualified specialists and translators in the field of international relations and diplomacy. They will develop professional competencies in linguistics of discourse, language analysis and translation, and speak two foreign languages. In the field of international relations, they will speak English at proficiency level; and in the socio-cultural sphere, they will speak Chinese at basic level
- The programme has an interdisciplinary nature and is implemented at the juncture of linguistics and international relations. Thus, the graduates gain not only interpreting and translation skills and form professional competencies, but also obtain knowledge in the area of international relation and diplomacy
As a result, the graduates:
- possess knowledge of the modern scientific paradigm in the field of linguistics, namely, in translation studies, and in the field of bilateral international communication
- possess deep knowledge in linguistics, area studies, and translation studies applied to the spheres of diplomacy and international relation
- possess communicative strategies and tactics, rhetoric, stylistic and language standards and techniques adopted in the field of diplomatic writing and international negotiations. They will be able to adequately apply them in professional problem solving
- have the capability for independent broadening, critical analysis, and application of knowledge in the field of philology, linguistics, and literary studies at the international political discourse level
- are capable of creating, editing, referring and systematising all types of diplomatic paperwork, news texts, and international analytical reviews
- are able to plan and manage aggregate information impact
