The bachelor’s programme "Biology" offers fundamental and practical training in biology with a specific focus and practical skills in a particular field. The foundation for biological concepts is laid by the biodiversity disciplines and summer field practice at the premises of St Petersburg University.
Fundamental training is also underpinned by a number of courses on the mechanisms to maintain the functions of the living systems at different levels. The unique courses developed by the staff focus on rapidly developing areas of biology such as genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Of principal importance in students’ training is that the programme introduces them to advanced methodological facilities on the state-of-the-art equipment at the St Petersburg University Research Park. To carry out research at the highest level, St Petersburg University provides students with unique opportunities: the Research Park and field stations (from the Polar Regions to Subtropics); copious information resources; and communication with top Russian researchers.
