The programme ‘Foreign Languages in Global Communications’ trains experts in linguistics and global transcultural communication. Teaching combines the study of fundamental linguistic, general humanities and philological disciplines. Students also master modern information and communication technology and acquire practical skills needed for mutual understanding of other cultures. Students focus on studying the history, traditions and social structure of their target language countries.
The programme is unique in that it combines knowledge of the target language (German or French) with professional skills in the use of oriental languages (Chinese / Japanese / Arabic, depending on the student’s choice) or Finno-Ugric languages and the cultures involved. Additionally, special attention is paid to keeping up a high level of command of English.
