Programme description
- The undergraduate degree programme «History of Korea (with the additional qualification „Specialist in the field of translation“)» aims to provide students with a holistic understanding of the political, economic, social, cultural, ethno-confessional, linguistic and other features of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea through a comprehensive study of the Korean language and the Chinese characters used in the Korean language
- The undergraduate programme is aimed at those wishing to build a successful career in various divisions of Russian and international companies cooperating with the states of the Korean Peninsula
- In addition, graduates of the programme will be awarded the qualification of «Specialist in the field of translation»

- Language training: Modern Korean (the standard literary language of the Republic of Korea) Students are able to familiarise themselves with and master the North Korean (Pyongyang) dialect of the language In addition to the Korean script, students also learn the hieroglyphics necessary to work with old classical texts. The Gorky Scientific Library has a collection of more than 300,000 volumes of scientific, educational and periodical literature, as well as fiction in all languages of the regions studied, a collection of old manuscripts and woodcuts, rare and unique books and lithographs
- Graduates can apply to Master’s programmes at the SPbU Faculty of Oriental Studies and to other Russian and foreign universities
