In the Battles of World War II
St Petersburg University Nabokov Museum opens an exhibition "In the Battles of World War II", which will be held as a part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The exhibition will be dedicated to the Soviet Marine Infantry.
Throughout the battles of World War II, one of the fleet’s most critical tasks was supporting ground forces in coastal areas. In this situation, the Marine Infantry played a special role, and their contribution to the Great Victory has yet to be fully acknowledged. The Marine Infantry significantly contributed to the stability and prolonged defence of naval bases in Odessa, Hanko, and Sevastopol. The exhibition will feature: Marine Infantry uniforms, photographs, documents, posters, everyday items, and artefacts recovered from battlefields.
A section of the exhibition will be dedicated to signal troops. Visitors will see field telephones, radios, switchboards, uniform elements, historical documents and photographs.
