‘I have seen much in life, but know nothing better than children...‘
1–21 June 2025
Saint Petersburg, Mendeleevskaya Line, 2
To mark Children’s Day, St Petersburg University has opened the exhibition ’I have seen much in life, but know nothing better than children...'.
Mendeleev, who dearly loved his six children, considered caring for them the greatest motivation for human achievement. The deeply tender and sincere love he felt for his family was frequently mentioned in his personal notes. The exhibition showcases children’s drawings, letters, and other family heirlooms that reflect the world through the eyes of the great scientist’s children. Many of these items serve as priceless illustrations of life as seen by Mendeleev’s children.
