LXXIX Mendeleev Readings
The LXXIX Mendeleev Readings will take place at St. Petersburg University, hosted by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Sergey Bachurin. The scientist will deliver a lecture titled "Medical Chemistry and the Search for Drugs to Treat Neurodegenerative Diseases".
The Mendeleev Readings are a prestigious annual event featuring a lecture by one of the leading scientists in the fields of chemistry or related disciplines, such as physics, biology, and biochemistry. This tradition has been upheld since 1941, with the selection of the speaker based solely on their contribution to the advancement of science.

Sergey Olegovich Bachurin is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Academician of the RAS, and Scientific Director of the Institute of Physiologically Active Compounds of the RAS. Under his leadership, over 1,000 new original compounds have been synthesised and studied, and a new drug for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease has been developed and introduced into practice.
Entry to the University premises requires a membership card of the Russian Chemical Society and a passport.
