Nabokov museum tours
SPbU hosts weekly guided tours of the Nabokov museum.
The Nabokov Museum is located on the first floor of the mansion at 47 Bolshaya Morskaya Street — the house where the writer was born in 1899 and which he left forever following the October Revolution.The tour traces the almost 300 year history of the mansion.
During the tour, visitors will explore the rooms on the first floor where the Nabokovs held receptions and family gatherings. You will follow in the footsteps of the guests from the vestibule to the dining room, the Green Salon, the library and the Committee Room, and learn about the renovations and secrets of the house. The tour will also explain how the mansion survived during the several decades of the Soviet era, the restoration process and what has been preserved.
The tour includes a detailed presentation of the life and work of Vladimir Nabokov and his distinguished relatives. Visitors will see a collection of Nabokov’s personal belongings: his pince-nez, pencils, work cards, clothes, a butterfly net and first editions of his books. The preserved interiors of the mansion, the Louis XV style dining room and the Henri II style library, are of particular value and interest.
