One Summer
"One Summer" (In Search of the Ideal. Nabokov’s Female Characters) — exhibition by N. Shalina.
Vintage wooden object paintings, interactive installation.
For the artist, who works with memory and female identity, it was crucial to piece together the fates of Vladimir Nabokov’s life companions and heroines, drawing parallels with her own life. She wanted to seamlessly integrate her project into the museum space, making visitors not just observers but active participants in the experience. Whether it’s "One Summer" in Biarritz or "One Summer" in Rozhdestveno, it’s a lifelong love, tinged with melancholy, loss, fading youth, and a bygone era, as if you’re looking into an old, darkened mirror but can’t quite grasp the elusive female silhouette.
