The 15th Congress of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature ‘Russian language and literature in a changing world’ invites experts in the field of studying, teaching, and disseminating the Russian language, literature and culture.
The congress is an event that is rich in history. It is held once every five years and dates back to the founding of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in 1967. Over the past half century, 14 congresses of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature were held in the following countries: the USSR (1967); Bulgaria (1973); Poland (1976); East Germany (1979); Czechoslovakia (1982); Hungary (1986); the USSR (1990); Germany (1994); Slovakia (1999); Russia (2003); Bulgaria (2007); China (2011); Spain (2015); and Kazakhstan (2019). For the first time in 20 years, the anniversary 15th Congress of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature will again be held in Russia, St Petersburg, in September 2023.
The agenda covers all the key areas of research, study and popularisation of the Russian linguistic heritage in the modern world. The congress includes 13 areas. Each area focuses on a specific group of related issues: from a systematic and structural description of the modern Russian language to research into the dynamics of language changes; modern Russian lexicography; and methods of teaching the Russian language. The plenary session will feature presentations by the world’s leading scholars on the most up-to-date issues of modern Russian studies.
The congress also includes discussion platforms. The round tables discuss the issues relating to social order and content of teaching the Russian language; linguistic analysis of legally significant texts; the civic position of the heroes of literary works; and the impact of the pandemic on the practice of teaching the Russian language.
In 2023, no registration fee is required. Travel and accommodation costs for international participants and accommodation costs for Russian colleagues whose articles are approved by the programme committee will be covered by the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature.
The organiser of the congress is the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. The co-organiser is St Petersburg University.
