Turgenev’s style: searches of Russian critics
As a part of a joint project of SPbU Representative Office in Italy and the University for Foreigners of Siena (Italy) on holding online seminars there will be given online lecture “Turgenev’s style: searching for Russian criticism” by Professor Igor Sukhikh.
“You can repudiate Turgenev, but there will still be Turgenev’s style, that special state of mind, that enchanting, intimate musical sense that he has not fully accomplished”, Yu. Aikhenwald once said. This Turgenev’s style was sought by Russian critics for more than a century.
During the lecture opinions of the writer’s contemporaries and immediate descendants (from D. Pisarev and N. Strakhov to I. Annensky, D. Merezhkovsky and P. Sakulin) will be examined. They will help to better understand Turgenev’s poetic style and place in Russian literature.
