Chinese journalists eager to expand collaboration with SPbU
The delegation of the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) has visited SPbU. The managers of the China’s leading mass media, SPbU’s Deputy Rector for International Affairs Sergei Andrushin and Director of the High School of Journalism and Mass Communication Anatolii Puiu discussed issues in professional collaboration.
The visit of the managers of China’s mass media to SPbU was conducted as part of the official visit to Russia initiated by the Union of Journalists in Russia. Xinhua, People's Daily, China Daily, Xinjiang Television (XJTV) and All-China Journalists Association study how Russian mass media interact with the international media and what technologies we use to develop Internet in Russia.
SPbU is actively cementing ties with China: both in education, research and professional sphere, says Deputy Rector for International Affairs Sergei Andrushin. Moreover, SPbU is the only university in Russia to have signed an agreement on collaboration with the Ministry of Education of China. “No university in Russia has signed a direct agreement with the ministries of other countries”, — said Sergei Andrushin.
SPbU’s students and professors have been constantly making painstaking enquiries into the history and current state of Chinese journalism, says Director of High School of Journalism and Mass Communication Anatolii Puiu. In 2016, SPbU was a co-founder of the Association of Journalism Education in China and Russia’s Universities at the Forum of the Humanities and Social Sciences, adds Anatolii Puiu. “Moreover, we are opening a three-year master’s programme in Professional Communication in Mass Media developed with Beijing International Studies University”, — said Anatolii Puiu.
Russian education is highly ranked among young people and in professional communities in China, says Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Daily Mr Lo Hua. The only obstacle Chinese students encounter when studying in Russia is the Russian language. Nevertheless, the number of students from China is going to rise as the University is opening more and more programmes taught in Russian, English and Chinese, for example Professional Communication in Mass Media.
The parties have also discussed the summer internship opportunities for SPbU’s students in the Chinese mass media, cooperation with the China’s journalists community in holding the research events at SPbU, joint sociological Internet-based research and support SPbU can provide to China’s mass media in creating a documentary film about Russia. Besides, Sergei Andrushin offered to prepare a joint project on research and education collaboration between Russia and China. SPbU can serve as an expert in preparing the media-product, as it is at the forefront of internationalization of university education.
