The first Russian university welcomes foreign applicants
The SPbU application process for foreign citizens applying for state-funded places will soon be finished. The deadline for submitting an application is 15 June.
Today, St Petersburg University implements over 100 educational programmes of various levels (Bachelor programmes, specialist degree programmes, Master's programmes) taught in foreign languages, either fully or partially. Judging by the results of the last year's admissions campaign, foreign applicants were most attracted by the following educational programmes: "General Medicine", "International Relations", "Law", "Linguistics", and "Management".
In 2017, SPbU is launching admissions to new programmes that may be of particular interest for foreign applicants. For example, the Bachelor's programme "Russian Studies" will include lectures read in English. At the same time the students will learn Russian, which will become their language of instruction by the fourth year of studies. The Master's programme "Tourist Destinations of Russia" is aimed at applicants interested in obtaining specialised knowledge of the Russian history and geography for solving a variety of tasks in the field of Russia-related international tourism. Graduates of the Master's programme "Russian Culture", taught in English only, will be able to act as expert analysts and consultants on the Russian culture in Russian and foreign organisations (foundations, analytical bureaus, museums and exhibition organisations, etc.) as well as in public administration.
All applicants are required to register at the Personal Account on the SPbU website, fill in an application form and submit it online through the Personal Account with the other required documents attached (the list of such documents is published on the website of the SPbU Admissions Committee). Foreign applicants should keep in mind that their educational credentials have to be, if required, duly legalised and recognised in the Russian Federation (they should have either a recognition certificate or an equivalence certificate, if required).
