Heilongjiang’s governor to head the educational council at SPbU
Heilongjiang’ Governor Lu Hao is to become the head of the council of the SPbU’s educational programme in Economics with a focus on Chinese economy and language.
In June, the delegation from the province Heilongjiang, headed by its Governor Lu Hao, visited SPbU and met SPbU’s Rector Nikolay Kropachev. Now Mr Lu Hao is to become the head of the council of the educational programme at SPbU. “The councils of the educational programme are an effective tool to excel the quality of education at St Petersburg University, serve as a platform for communication with the professional community, and aim to support educational and research collaboration across the globe, — said Nikolay Kropachev.
The Governor is not the first one to represent the government of the foreign country at theeducational councils at SPbU. After an official visit to SPbU, the Cyprus’s Minister of Education and Science Costas Kadis became the head of the councils of the under-graduate programme in Modern Greek language, Byzantine and Modern Greek philology and a graduate programme in Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek philology.
The educational councils primarily aim to ensure excellence in education. The potential employers are vital part in education. Thus, the educational councils of the programmes in Museum studies and cultural heritage preservation, Attribution and expert evaluation of the cultural artifacts, and Visual technologies in museums comprise the representatives of the top museums at St Petersburg. the educational council is headed by the director of the State Museum Reserve “Peterhof”, Doctor of Cultural Studies, Prof Elena Kalnitskaia, while the educational council of the programme in Law is headed by the chairperson of the St Petersburg’s Legal Committee Anna Mitiatina.
The potential employers can develop the University’s educational standards and become the heads of the SPbU’s offices. For example, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies is Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, the Dean of the Faculty of Physics is Director of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk, Faculty of the Arts Valery Gergiev, and the Graduate School of Management VTB’s Director Andrei Kostin.
