The Legal Clinic of St Petersburg University to provide legal advice to St Petersburg residents
Consultants at the Legal Clinic of St Petersburg University are accepting applications for free legal assistance.
The University Legal Clinic provides free legal assistance to the following categories of citizens: pensioners; veterans; unemployed; people with disabilities; adoptive parents; minors; students; and low-income earners whose total income does not exceed 2.5 times the regional subsistence minimum amount (around 41,000 roubles for St Petersburg in 2024).
The consultants can answer legal questions related to various fields of law, including: labour; civil; administrative; civil procedure; housing; and social security law. St Petersburg residents can receive legal advice on: how to formalise an inheritance; what to do if an employer delays salaries; how to claim benefits; how to return goods of inadequate quality; and what to do if a developer has violated the construction deadlines. After analysing the legal issue, the consultant can help to draft a statement of claim to be filed in a court of general jurisdiction.
The Legal Clinic at St Petersburg University receives enquiries from people by phone: +7 (812) 363-62-22 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm or through the Virtual Reception. Applications are accepted until 5 May 2024.
Free legal advice at the Legal Clinic is provided by students in the Law programme under the supervision and guidance of faculty members, who are qualified lawyers with many years of practical work experience. "Our legal clinic is actively involved in the system of free legal aid existing in Russia. For over 25 years since its inception, the Legal Clinic’s consultants have helped thousands of citizens. We do our best to help every applicant. Helping people is important to us, and we do it well. The best feedback we have received is from people who thanks to our assistance were able to resolve the issues they had. Students who work as consultants at the Legal Clinic of St Petersburg University not only provide legal advice, but also draft complaints to be sent to the relevant authorities and prepare legal papers to file a claim in court," said Associate Professor Viacheslav Nizamov, Director of the Legal Clinic at St Petersburg University.
