Principles of Rational Nutrition in Modern Society. Trends, Developments, and Challenges

3 June
Time: 7 pm

The Representative Office of St Petersburg University in Spain invites you to a lecture titled ’Principles of Rational Nutrition in Modern Society. Trends, Developments, and Challenges’, delivered by Lidia Soprun, Associate Professor at St Petersburg University (Department of Healthcare and Medical Law). The lecture will focus on the fundamentals of rational nutrition and its role in maintaining human health in today’s world.

Healthy eating is an integral part of a fulfilling life. However, in today’s fast-paced world—where individual needs, dietary preferences, and socio-economic factors intersect with marketing myths and information overload—this issue has become particularly relevant.

The lecture will explore the key principles of balanced nutrition, including the optimal ratio of macronutrients and micronutrients, the importance of a personalised approach to diet planning, and the significance of mindful food choices.

Special emphasis will be placed on analysing modern dietary trends, such as the rise of plant-based diets, low-carb regimes, paleo and ketogenic approaches, and their impact on health.

The speaker will also address developments in food technology, the availability of organic produce, and the growing importance of sustainable food production. A significant portion of the lecture will be devoted to the challenges faced by modern individuals in nutrition: disrupted eating habits due to hectic lifestyles, the prevalence of ultra-processed foods, and issues of social inequality in access to high-quality nutrition. Examining these factors offers a fresh perspective on nutrition—not just as a means of maintaining health, but as a vital element in the harmonious interaction between individuals, society, and the environment.

This lecture will be valuable for anyone seeking to understand how nutrition affects health, improve their dietary habits, and learn to critically assess popular diets and food trends. The insights gained will help integrate rational nutrition into a mindful lifestyle that aligns with the realities of modern society.

The event will be held online in Russian with simultaneous Spanish translation.
