Master’s thesis as a breakthrough: SPbU law students to get Gazprom scholarships for the best master theses
May 19, St Petersburg International Legal Forum, St Petersburg University and Gazprom have signed a collaboration agreement, which can ensure that Gazprom can benefit from the expert potential of the University, while the University can excel in educating and preparing law students by mastering their practical skills to work in the financial market and banking.
The agreement was signed by Vice-President Elena Borisenko and SPbU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Methodological Support Marina Lavrikova.
“It is a great honour for Gazprom to collaborate with St Petersburg University, — said Elena Borisenko at the ceremony. — We have great expectations about the students in Law in Financial Market and believe that our contribution will encourage them to work in the Russian financial markets and develop the economy of our country. I hope that the students will be prominent figures of the St Petersburg International Legal Forum in future, as competent as their international peers”.
The agreement sets scholarships (150,000, 100,000, or 50,000 rubles) for the best master’s theses. The best master’s theses must make grounds for painstaking research at the post-graduate level and become a breakthrough in law and jurisdiction, said Elena Borisenko.
She expressed her gratitude to SPbU Rector Nikolay Kropachev for engagement of professional community into education and preparation of law students.
SPbU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Methodological Support Marina Lavrikova said about the importance of efficient collaboration with Gazprom.
“Today professional community has become integral part of education in SPbU, with over 1,000 employers involved. Collaboration with the University can be time- and effort-consuming, and only a few employers can afford it. So we highly appreciate that Gazprom is ready to support SPbU and become part of the legal education”, — said Marina Lavrikova.
Apart from the scholarships, the collaboration covers master classes, workshops, internships with Gazprom.
Gazprom will be represented in the Councils of the educational programmes, Methodological and Research Commissions, and State Final Examination. All these will allow the University to develop educational programmes and continue to preserve excellence in education and research.
