New online programme on effective distance learning strategies
St Petersburg University launches a new series of online courses that introduces the specifics of distance learning, methods of sharpening self‑organisation and discipline skills, and the rules of digital etiquette and sustainable motivation.
The "How to Learn and Teach Online" programme includes three courses designed for school students and their parents, as well as university students and educators. Through this programme, participants will learn to maintain consistent motivation for online studies, organise their workspace, effectively search for information, and identify key points in educational materials. They will also gain a better understanding the modular systems often used in the educational process.
Each course module is built around seven rules for effective knowledge acquisition and online teaching. During the course, participants are encouraged to keep a diary of their application of these rules to observe improvements in their study productivity.
The online course for school students examines the online education process from the perspective of learners: goals and objectives at different stages of education; challenges faced by students in distance learning; and methods for managing study time to meet personal needs. Additionally, the "How to Learn and Teach Online: For School Students and Their Parents" course won the UNESCO "E‑library for Teachers" competition in the «Open Online Course» category.
The online course for educators will show how to apply distance education technologies and principles of individualisation and personalisation in teaching, choose optimal tools for the educational process, and conduct effective online classes and design a supportive learning community. The "How to Learn and Teach Online: For Students" course will help make the distance learning process more balanced, goal‑oriented, and effective.
