New SPbU branch in Egypt welcomes over 400 students
So far, the St Petersburg University branch in Cairo has launched three educational programmes: "General Medicine", "Dental Medicine" and "Pharmacy". On successful completion of their studies, students will be awarded diplomas in accordance with SPbU and international educational standards.
The university branch was established with the support of the Egyptian company Modern Group, which specialises in providing services to the education, pharmaceutical and construction industries. Earlier, Modern Group JSC also signed an agreement with the Egyptian Ministry of Health to allow the university to run internship and residency programmes in local hospitals, which will both help train qualified medical personnel and promote the development of the medical field in Egypt.
‘Thanks to the presidential decree and the support of the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Modern Group, we were able to open a branch in Cairo. This is an important step for the development of international cooperation of the university, export of Russian education and educational services of the SPbU, which is one of our priority tasks. Today, St Petersburg University produces highly qualified medical professionals. In order to teach future doctors in Egypt, the curricula have been adapted to meet the specific needs of the region. We are focusing on the needs of various sectors of the Egyptian economy for highly qualified personnel and hope that further cooperation with our partners will expand opportunities for students,’ said Sergey Andryushin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at SPbU.
In the future, the Egyptian branch of the SPbU will offer a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a master’s degree in artificial intelligence and a specialisation in physiotherapy.
St Petersburg University has been implementing the SPbU Representative Offices programme for many years as part of its international cooperation. Today the University has representative offices in Korea, the People’s Republic of China, Spain, Greece, Italy, Iran, and Thailand. In addition, SPbU recently became the first Russian university to open its own representative office in the Navoi Free Economic Zone (Republic of Uzbekistan).
