Professor of St Petersburg University Arto Urtti receives an award from the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Japan
Arto Uttri is a world leading pharmacologist, and the head of the Laboratory of Biohybrid Technologies of the Institute of Chemistry of St Petersburg University and the head of the Division of Pharmaceutical Biosciences of the University of Helsinki. He has received the prestigious Takeru & Aya Higuchi Memorial Lectureship Award.
The prize is awarded every two years to the scientists who have made a significant contribution into the research of drugs.
Professor Urtti is a leading world specialist in this sphere. In the beginning of 2018, the Laboratory of Biohybrid Technologies was opened. This became possible due to the Megagrant from the Government of the Russian Federation. Under Professor Uttri’s guidance the Russian and Finnish teams work on developing and researching the systems of targeted delivery of a wide range of medicinal compounds into cells and tissues. They also create new computational and pharmacokinetic cellular models for ophthalmology.
Such a recognition is very important to me. It is great that our work on creating new effective systems of targeted delivery of medicinal compounds and our research in pharmacokinetic mechanisms and models received such an award. This recognition means a lot to all the members of the study group.
