The QS Graduate Employability Ranking 2020: interaction of St Petersburg University with employers increases the competitive abilities of its graduates

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2020 of top world universities has been published today. According to new data, St Petersburg University has retained its position in the world’s top 100 universities according to the criteria of alumni outcomes and employer-student connections. The latter result is a consequence of the systematic work of St Petersburg University on the development of practical components in its academic programmes.

Up to now St Petersburg University has concluded more than 2,000 agreements with employers–businesses, government agencies, leading multinational companies, as well as corporations from around the world including Japan, China, Germany, the USA, South Korea and many others. Additionally, it is employers who head the councils of the University’s academic programmes and can make decisions regarding the organisation of the academic process. Moreover, a system of ‘clinical practices’ is implemented at St Petersburg University. During these practices, students, under the supervision of experienced teachers, perform real tasks, which are also set by business representatives.

The QS Graduate Employability Ranking 2020

All of these things help St Petersburg University to train truly sought-after professionals who meet the requirements of the modern labour market. It is no surprise at all that this year St Petersburg University has retained high positions in the top 100 of the world ranking in the ‘Employer-Student Connections’ indicator. This reflects how closely students and employers collaborate at the University.

Additionally, for the fourth year in a row St Petersburg University has remained in the world’s top 100 universities according to the ‘Alumni Outcomes’ indicator. To calculate this criterion, they use data on graduates featuring in high-achievers lists, each measuring desirable outcomes in a particular walk of life.

It should be remembered that the British company Quacquarelli Symonds has been publishing the graduate employability ranking of the world’s top 500 universities since 2015. The ranking is based on the following five key indicators: the employer reputation (30%); alumni outcomes (25%); partnerships with employers (25%); employer-student connections (10%); and graduate employment rate (10%).
