QS World University Rankings: SPbU among world’s leading 250 universities

June 6, the Quacquarelli Symonds has published the QS rankings. St Petersburg University improved its performance by rising 5 places up compared with last year and entered the top 23 % universities worldwide.

The QS World University Rankings is among the most prestigious league tables in the world, along with the THE and ARWU. Published since 2014, the QS rankings is compiled using six metrics.

St Petersburg has improved in best ever performance. For the last two years, the University increased its Academic Reputation score by 15 %. The Employer Reputation is also constantly on the rise - for the last year the University increased its performance by 20 %.

The QS World University Rankings enjoys a remarkably consistent methodological framework using six metrics: Academic Reputation (40 %), Citation per Faculty (20 %), Faculty/Student Ratio (20 %), Employer Reputation (10 %), International Faculty Ratio (5 %), and International Students ratio (5 %).

“The fact that the University is constantly improving its performance is a good sign that it has been following the right strategy. Several years ago, we focused on openness and direct collaboration with the employers  and today the University has unique opportunities to develop educational programmes”, — said SPbU Rector Nikolay Kropachev.

The employers can develop the SPbU’s educational standards, formulate employment requirements for staff, work out the topics for theses and term papers, take part in the recruitment competitions, and formulate entry requirements.

We have developed a consistent framework of staff education and preparation by maintain the balance between the academic ad practical spheres. Obviously, the principle of openness and effective tools of collaboration can ensure our high reputation in research and professional communities.

In February’s QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, the University has improved its performance Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management, Arts and Humanities.
