SPbU listed in the QS Graduate Employability Ranking of Universities

Seven Russian higher education institutions made it into the QS in 2016, making Russia strengthening its positions in this ranking. St Petersburg University came third among them.

St Petersburg University was again listed in the QS Graduate Employability Ranking of Universities. This body ranks higher education institutions in terms of graduate employability and the level of interaction with employers. SPbU was included into the 151-200, having demonstrated the best results in terms of "graduates' professional achievements" (96.6 points out of 100) and "university's partnership with employers" (74.2 points out of 100). In order to rank universities according to the first factor, the raters studied the success stories of 21,000 most renowned, influential and well-off people of the world and made out what universities they graduated from.

In order to evaluate a higher education institution in terms of the its partnership with employers, they took into account such factors as the number of scientific publications prepared by the university in cooperation with international companies (at least three ones annually) and the existence of partnership relations connected with graduate employment. The raters studied the universities' partnership with 2,000 leading international companies.

"This autumn the first Russian university was listed in two new international rankings assessing graduate employability. These are the THE and QS rankings. The raters evaluated the interaction of the world universities with employers in terms of various parameters. Yet, all of them proved that our work was effective," SPbU Rector Nikolay Kropachev said. "A few years ago SPbU started modifying its approach to cooperation with employers by paying particular attention to comprehensive work with Russian and international business entities, governmental authorities, and foreign diplomats. We make our partners involved into all levels of the educational process, from the formation of educational programmes to formulation of the titles of bachelor's and master's theses as well as participation in state examination boards. This work never stops but goes on and expands."

The Rector noted that "the University's high performance in the world rankings prove that SPbU remains one of the Russian leaders in the training of professionals meeting the requirements of the international labour market."

The QS Graduate Employability Ranking of Universities was first published in 2015. Only three Russian universities including SPbU were listed in it then.

This year the total of seven Russian higher education institutions were listed in the QS.
