SPbU’s medical scientists in British Medical Journal
Published in one of the most of the influential general medicine journals in the world and one of the oldest journals in the UK, the article focuses on heart rate and blood pressure measurements of the SPbU’s law students at the charitable Legal Run.
The brief medical check-up, with a total number of over 100 people aged approximately 26, was conducted by the professors and students in Nursing at St Petersburg University, headed by the honoured doctor of the Russian Federation Professor Anatolii Zhirkov.
The personal results (heart rate and blood pressure) were compared with the measurements typical to the SPbU’s first-year students (3,500 students) and average measurements in the developed countries (data from the journal Lancet).
An average blood pressure rate in the runners and those who visited the event equaled 116/73 millimetres of mercury, says Anatolii Zhirkov. “These data correspond to those which are average in people of the same age from the developed countries, but slightly lower than the SPbU first-year students’”, – said Prof Anatolii Zhirkov.
Published in one of the most of the influential general medicine journals British Medical Journal (BMJ), the research findings are highly rated in society.
Let us say that nursing is one of the most popular fields of study in Russia and abroad. The educational programme in Nursing at SPbU implements the International Standards for Professional Nurses by merging humanism and technology in the university education.
