SPbU’s success: QS World University Rankings by Subject
St Petersburg University can proudly boast to climb on in four out of five subjects, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management, Arts and Humanities.
Released today by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds, the QS World University Rankings by Subjects reveal that the oldest university in Russia shows a positive dynamics in four out of five fields of knowledge. St Petersburg University climbed 62 positions on in Natural Sciences, 54 positions in Social Sciences and Management, and 18 positions in Arts and Humanities.
Published since 2011, the QS World University Rankings by Subject feature 48 subjects in five different subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technologies, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management.
In 2018, the University is ranked 117 and is therefore close to entering the top 100 in the Humanities. Another success is 223 position in Engineering and Technologies. Just several years ago the University was a classical university rather than a university of technology and engineering and did not feature in the rankings at all.
SPbU features in the top 100 in Mathematics, Linguistics, and Modern Languages. It climbed 50 positions on the last year.
Each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, research Citations per Paper, and H-index.
Moreover, SPbU has entered the Rankings in Medicine, which reflects the University’s high performance in the Biomedicine and Human Health that is a priority area as stipulated in the Strategic Plan. In 2018, SPbU has its debut in the rankings in Arts History, Development Studies, and Classics and Ancient History.
