St Petersburg University expands the geography of its international cooperation
A meeting with partners from the International University of Kyrgyzstan has been held online. During the meeting, the parties discussed the details of signing an agreement on cooperation and academic exchange between the universities.
The International University of Kyrgyzstan, which was founded in 1993, is a public university of the Kyrgyz Republic with the status of an international higher education institution.
Valeriia Malomuzh, Acting Deputy Rector for International Affairs, noted that the level of interaction between the University and foreign partners is currently very high: St Petersburg University has many protocols for academic exchanges of students and staff on mutually beneficial terms. Partners are not only foreign institutions of higher education, but also academic organisations: the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary; and the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia to name just a few. ’We are highly interested in partnership with your University; in particular, we are interested in medical student exchanges. Today, we would like to discuss the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement and talk in detail about the potential of our cooperation,’ said Valeriia Malomuzh.
Muratbek Baihodjoev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the International University of Kyrgyzstan, stressed that developing a mobility programme as part of international cooperation is a priority for the university. ’We organise foreign internships for our students and teachers, and open laboratories and clinics in the republic’s regions for internal internships,’ said Muratbek Baihodjoev. ’Speaking of our programmes, it is worth noting that more than half of the students at our university choose the medical field. It is also popular among foreign students: we have experience in student exchanges with Pakistan, India, and the USA. Humanities, economics, and psychology are also actively developing at our university,’ the Vice-Rector added.
We are interested in students’ academic exchange and the development of our programmes. Interaction with St Petersburg University, Russia’s oldest university with a great history and centuries of experience, is a special honour for us, and a great breakthrough in the academic and educational field.
