St Petersburg University expert delivers public lecture on copyright in the digital environment in Harbin
As part of a series of lectures on law for the Representative Office of St Petersburg University in Harbin (China), Elena Beier, a lecturer in law at St Petersburg University, has delivered an online lecture. Her presentation was devoted to the issues of intellectual property and technology in the digital age.
The University’s lecturer drew the attention of the audience to the fact that the rapid development of technology and the transition of many familiar processes and things into the digital space make it necessary to create new legal tools to regulate relations in the field of intellectual property and technology.
Elena Beier is the author of the online courses "Intellectual Property Law in the Digital Age" in Russian and English on the Open Education platform.
During the lecture, Elena Beier considered modern challenges to intellectual property law and prospects for its further development in Russia and the world. Based on traditional institutions of intellectual property law, such as means of individualisation, copyright and patent law, she analysed approaches to the legal regulation of software, databases and generative artificial intelligence technologies.
