St Petersburg University has improved its position in the QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia rankings

Quacquarelli Symonds has published a list of the top universities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2020). St Petersburg University again improved its position and was ranked second.

For several years, St Petersburg University has been showing steady growth: in 2017, it occupied the fourth place in the ranked list; in 2018, it was third; and this year it was ranked second. This has been the best result since the University started participating in the ranking.

The University scored the highest points for such indicators as: ‘Academic Reputation’ (99.8%); ‘Web Impact’ (99.9%); ‘International Research Network’ (98.2%); ‘Faculty Student’ (95.5%); ‘Faculty Staff with PhD’ (95.1%); as well as ‘Employer Reputation’ (95%).

A total of ten factors are assessed according to the ranking methodology. The highest scores in the overall score are generated by: academic reputation (30%); employer reputation (20%); and faculty-student ratio. Additionally, the following indicators are taken into account: faculty staff with PhD; citations per paper; papers per faculty; international research network; international faculty; international students; and web impact.
