St Petersburg University intensifies collaboration with Uzbekistan in preschool education
A delegation from St Petersburg University has visited the Agency for Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the talks, the following issues were discussed: the current state of cooperation with St Petersburg University; and the prospects for the development of cooperation under the agreement signed in 2022 during the meeting between Rector Nikolay Kropachev and the leadership of the Ministry of Preschool Education of Uzbekistan.
Sergey Andryushin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of St Petersburg University, met with Agrippina Shin, Senior Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan, and Artem Rubtsov, Deputy Head of Tashkent branch of St Petersburg University. During the meeting, Sergey Andryushin said that the University seeks to build mutually beneficial partnership with the Republic of Uzbekistan in various areas of bilateral cooperation. One of the areas of interest is preschool education. In this regard, the participants in the meeting noted how important it is to deal with the early development of children. This position was previously reflected in the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan.
Sergey Andryushin added that St Petersburg University is ready to consider intensifying collaboration with the Agency for Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in a number of directions.
It was decided to: create working groups to implement the cooperation agreement between St Petersburg University and the Ministry of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and carry out joint research work aimed at the development of preschool education.

‘Additionally, joint work on the specifics of training nurses for preschool educational institutions in Uzbekistan is being considered,’ commented Sergey Andryushin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of St Petersburg University.
Among the issues also discussed at the meeting were: joint projects aimed at developing inclusive education; activities to enhance the scientific potential of the preschool education system; and the opening of the Centre of Uzbek Culture at St Petersburg University.
As a result of the talks, the parties agreed to continue joint work in the development of preschool and school education system in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
