St Petersburg University lecturers of the Russian Society "Znanie" on the new platforms
The event has been held at the regional election headquarters of Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin. Experts from St Petersburg University talked about the history of education and enlightenment in the Northern Capital of Russia and shed light on its ship history.
The lecturers of the St Petersburg branch of the Russian Society "Znanie" mostly include researchers and academics from St Petersburg University. They are experts in various fields of knowledge with extensive experience in education.
Opening the series of events, Alexey Demidov, Rector of Saint Petersburg University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Co-Chairperson of the regional election headquarters of Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg, talked about the importance of the development of educational activities in Russia and St Petersburg in the context of the current challenges. In this regard, he particularly focused on the exceptional importance of preserving historical memory.
The first lectures in the series were prepared and delivered by the St Petersburg University lecturers from the Russian Society "Znanie". Anna Volkova, Director of the St Petersburg branch of the Russian Society "Znanie", Professor at St Petersburg University, focused on the history of education and enlightenment in St Petersburg; shed light on the traditions of the Russian education system; and discussed the innovative technologies implemented by the Russian Society "Znanie" for the development of civic consciousness.
Speaking about the formation of enlightened citizens , we should be guided by the words of Vladimir Putin: ‘Knowledge must once again become one of the most important values of society, attractive and accessible, and this is the key goal of the updated Russian Society "Znanie"’

Kirill Nazarenko, Professor at St Petersburg University, delivered a lecture on the history of St Petersburg as a sea and river port; the relationship between the water space and city residents; water transportation and its traditions. The listeners were particularly interested in the development of the shipbuilding industry, the role of the military and merchant fleet in the history of the city, and the revival of the tradition of celebrating Russian Navy Day.
Since December 2022, the St Petersburg regional branch of the Russian Society "Znanie" has been operating at St Petersburg University. The Russian Society "Znanie" continues to develop dynamically.
Presentations by lecturers from the St Petersburg branch of the Russian Society "Znanie" will be held every week at the exhibition complex "Design District DAA" on 3 Krasnogvardeiskaia Square. An agreement on cooperation between the Russian Society "Znanie" and St Petersburg University was signed in 2021 at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. Electing Nikolay Kropachev, Rector of St Petersburg University, as the chairperson of the regional branch gave a powerful impetus to educational activities and opened up new opportunities to develop an extensive network of partnerships and collaborations with various regional platforms.
