The World Reputation Rankings 2021
The Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics. Experts choose top universities according to two criteria: the quality of education (Teaching) and the quality of research conducted at the university (Research). The compilers choose experts who have worked in their field of scholarly knowledge for at least 15 years and provide acknowledged scientific publications. This year, nearly 11,000 scientists from 128 countries took part in the survey.
Based on surveys of the academic community, the THE World Reputation Rankings were first published in 2011. Every year, the compilers of the ranking publish only the world’s top 100 universities and list them in groups of 10. Last year, the compilers for the first time openly published the world’s top 200 universities, which also included St Petersburg University. This year, St Petersburg University and four more Russian universities were included in the ranking.
Also, the Times Higher Education publishes many other rankings, including global subject rankings, impact rankings, and the THE World University Rankings. It should be noted that St Petersburg University is consistently ranked at a high level in other world rankings: the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU); Moscow International University Ranking ‘The Three University Missions’ (MosIUR); and QS World University Rankings to name just a few.
