St Petersburg University student becomes the winner of the Junior World Cup in fencing
Dmitrii Osipov is a first-year law student of St Petersburg University and a member of the Russian fencing team. He has taken first place in the individual competition among more than 180 participants at the Foil Junior World Cup, held in Aix-en-Provence, France.
The Junior World Cup ended with the Russian final. Dmitrii Osipov defeated several French fencers and fought for the first place with another representative of the Russian team – Egor Barannikov. It is worth mentioning that Dmitrii Osipov is a master of sports, while his opponent is an international master of sports.
Dmitrii Osipov is a four-time European team champion, a silver medallist at the European Championship, and a four-time Russian champion in foil fencing among cadets despite his young age.
This year, Dmitrii Osipov became the first Russian fencer to win an international tournament. He also won a bronze team World Cup medal.
