St Petersburg University team emerge victorious in the All-Russian Therapeutic Olympiad held in Tyumen

The University team, known as "People in White", clinched the top spot at the 2nd All-Russian Therapeutic Olympiad. The competition took place at Tyumen State Medical University.
Eleven student teams representing universities in Moscow, St Petersburg, Ryazan, and Yoshkar-Ola showcased their knowledge and skills.
The University team comprised Andrei Gorokhov, Aleksandra Cherniakova, Arsenii Zabezhinskii, and Bogdan Gumenko. The team received guidance from Oleg Solovev, a doctoral student in the Department of Faculty Therapy and a cardiologist at the Pirogov Clinic of High Medical Technologies at St Petersburg University.
Throughout the three stages, the participants were required to demonstrate expertise in clinical medicine, practical skills in patient care, and a broad knowledge base.

'We aimed to showcase our abilities and push our limits. It is truly rewarding to see more therapeutic Olympiads emerging. These events provide a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and test one’s knowledge. On behalf of the team, I extend our gratitude to the organisers for the excellent preparation. We were thrilled,' shared Andrei Gorokhov, the team captain, a student at St Petersburg University.
During the simulation stage, the participants were tasked with making an accurate diagnosis of the presented clinical case, selecting appropriate treatment tactics, and justifying their choices. The team from St Petersburg University excelled at this stage, scoring the maximum points available.
The second stage consisted of an intellectual multi-game testing knowledge on various therapeutic issues. Topics ranged from a therapeutic quiz on syndromes and pathologies to detailed questions on the history of therapy and encrypted diseases in quotes and paintings.

A highlight of the competition was the third stage, which involved participating in the project session on "Prevention of early metabolic ageing". Each team had to prepare and present a project within a strict time limit of three hours.
At the conclusion of the Olympiad, the University team clinched first place in the team competition. Additionally, they were awarded the winner’s diploma in the category of "Clinical Thinking" for their victory in the simulation round.
