RIA Novosti: Expert tells about when new COVID-19 cases are forecast to decline in Russia
New COVID-19 cases are forecast to decline at the end of February in Russia, according to Mr Zakharov.
New COVID-19 cases are forecast to decline at the end of February in 2022, said Victor Zakharov, Head of the Department of Mathematical Modelling of Energetic Systems and Head of the Centre for Intelligent Logistics Centre at St Petersburg University.
In the middle of the second decade of February, the number of COVID-19 cases on a daily basis can exceed 120,000. Cases of COVID-19 will probably be rising even after 15 February, like in Europe, as Omicron spreads. Yet the decline is forecast by the end of February.

The number of COVID-19 cases reported daily in Russia may reach 85,000 by 1 February 2022, according to Victor Zakharov. By 1 February 2022, the total number of reported cases will exceed 11,800,000, while the number of people infected may reach an unprecedented level of 1,200,000 people.
A group of scientist headed by Victor Zakharov has developed a mathematical model CIR (Confirmed cases, Infected, Removed (i.e. cases of death or recovery)) to forecast how coronavirus can spread during a period of up to a month using new forecasting methods and techniques.
