The programme prepares specialists in the languages of the Baltic cultural area and requires the compulsory study of German and one of two languages of choice — Latvian or Estonian. In addition to a solid grounding in linguistics, the curriculum emphasises humanities and philology, mastery of modern information and communication technologies, and practical skills in promoting mutual understanding between representatives of different cultures. Students study the history, customs and social organisation of each target language country alongside their language studies.
