Amusing textual criticism: Why are Samuil Marshak’s poems remembered for a lifetime?
Lecture "Amusing textual criticism: Why are Samuil Marshak’s poems remembered for a lifetime?" by Nikolai Guskov, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor in the Department of the History of Russian Literature.
The lecture will focus on the well-known children’s works created by Samuil Marshak. Nikolai Guskov will speak about the poet’s truly careful work on the text which made his every poem perfect. With each reprint (and many works were reprinted dozens of times), Samuil Marshak edited most of his books, so that the poems that we and the children of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s read in childhood are often very different from each other. Having traced the creative history of lines familiar to us from childhood, we can learn a lot and think about something important.
