3–25 Fedraury 2023
13 Lieutenant Schmidt embankment, Diaghilev Museum of Modern Art
Ivan Razumov is known for his illustrations to the books of Pushkin, Mayakovsky, to the books of medieval Japanese authors such as Sei-Shonagon and Matsuo Basho. According to critics, Razumov’s style is distinguished by sharply honed techniques, consistency and attention to details. The core of Razumov’s art lies in clash of soviet, new Russian and Western European cultures. The illustrations are based on allusions to film and literary scenes, psychoanalytic theories, social events and popular myths. Razumov’s illustrations are grotesque, sarcastic and at the same time they are nostalgic and tragic.
