Levkas
Personal exhibition "Levkas" by the Italian artist Elio Cassara.
For the first time after Veliky Novgorod and Moscow, the Diaghilev Museum of Modern Art at St Petersburg University opens a personal exhibition "Levkas" by Elio Cassara. Elio Cassara explores the balance between spherical fields of colour and form, conveying the most accurate sensations from a particular landscape. Light plays an important role in creating abstract compositions, extremely complex in structure, yet minimalistic and intangible. The light seems to come from the canvases, making the space around them vibrate.
The new exhibition project features 18 works created between 2021 and 2022 in Moscow.
These abstract images with a special inner glow convey the impressions of Elio Cassara from the place, from its energy. Through the prism of his works, the artist invites a viewer to take a journey that will open the landscapes of Sicily, and the extraordinary multitude of shades of the Venetian lagoon, and the cheerful colours of Russian nature.
Elio Cassara is actively engaged in exhibition activity. His works are in many public and private collections, both in Russia and abroad. The exhibition will last until 31 August 2023. You can visit the exhibition during the opening hours of the Diaghilev Museum of Modern Art at St Petersburg University.
