From old accessions. Documents and photographs of Dmitri Mendeleev

The exhibition presents documents from the funds of the Dmitri Mendeleev Museum and Archives at St Petersburg University. The documents are related to the financial and economic activities of the scientist. The documents have been published for the first time.

Among the documents are: invoices; receipts and reports of banking offices; insurance receipts; documents related to the financing of the trip of Dmitri Mendeleev to America in 1876; correspondence with government officials (with the Governor of the State Bank of the Russian Empire Evgeny Lamansky on the issue of combating the forgery of checks; the Minister of Finance Sergei Witte on the new gold rouble to name just a few); correspondence with Vasily Kokorev, who was an entrepreneur and philanthropist; and materials of the Free Economic Society to name just a few.

We also present photos of Dmitri Mendeleev, his photos in the family circle and among scientists, and others.
